(Staff in Training)
Your SIT summer is an incredible journey with the potential to be the most rewarding and exciting summer
you can imagine. The combination of innovative, engaging, and insightful training sessions combined with
the hands-on and practical in-cabin training opportunities makes the SIT program a unique and fantastic
summer experience at camp. The SIT program is a terrific opportunity to prepare oneself to return as a
staff member at CMC in the following years.
Camp Mountain Chai offers a seven week staff training program for teens entering 11th grade in the fall.
For these seven weeks you will create unique relationships with your fellow SITs as we prepare you for the
transition from camper to counselor. You will begin to learn all the intricacies and experience what it
takes to become a counselor, programming, leadership skills, and the operations of camp that up until now
you have not been directly exposed to.
This summer is a true evolution, personally and professionally from
camper to staff for all our SITs as a group and as individuals.
Entrance into this program is very competitive and based on a completed application by the deadline, a personal
interview, history at camp and letters of recommendations. SITs who successfully complete the program and are
referred by the SIT director will be given first priority for hiring the following summer.
SIT APPLICATION DEADLINE: Sunday, December 18th, 2011
For more information about the SIT program, please feel free to call us at (858) 499-1330, we are more than happy
to speak with you, or email us at info@campmountainchai.com.
Testimonials from previous SIT participants
"When I came into my SIT year, I was expecting something similar to a camper year... I was wrong. And no, that's
not a bad thing. The SIT experience ranks among the most incredible experiences in my life. The challenges I faced
not only taught me how to be a good counselor, but taught me tons of real life skills. Do me a favor: Be an SIT.
You won't regret it."
Dylan Lieberman, SIT 2011
"Being an SIT was the single most influential experience of my life. It taught me not only how to take care of others,
and treat people properly, but how to take care of myself. It has truly altered my outlook on life for the better,
and was the most memorable and rewarding thing I have ever done."
Cara Hoffman, SIT 2011
"My summer as an SIT at CMC was easily the best summer of my life. This program is not an easy program, but in saying
that, I can say that it is the best learning experience to help you in life. It not only prepares you to be the best
counselor you can be, but allows you to help the kids have the best summers of their lives. This program teaches
you valuable life lessons such as leadership, courage among many other qualities. By the end of the summer I had
full confidence that I would be the best counselor I can be. In essence, the SIT program is the best way to spend
your summer, take my advice, do this program, you will not regret it at all."
Jordan Tarr, SIT 2011
"My SIT summer far surpassed any and all expectations I had for it; I might even consider it one of the best summers
I have ever experienced. After seven weeks of learning and living the life of a staff member I now feel that I have
the skills and tools to take on the challenge of being a full-fledged camp counselor in the years to come. I will
never forget all the amazing people I spent last summer at camp with and all the fun, hilarious, tough, and
occasionally, inspiring moments I had with them. I am very much looking forward to coming back to camp as a staff
member to help make the summer amazing and especially safe and healthy for all the campers at Mountain Chai."
Jessica Tierney, SIT 2011
"I learned so much about myself as an SIT: the way I deal with people, my level of patience and tolerance,
my ability to be a leader, and my ability to work with campers. The SIT program really helped me transition
into being a counselor and I am so glad I was a part of the program. I valued my time as an SIT and think it
is an integral part to being an effective counselor and otherwise leader"
Rebecca Siegel, SIT 2010
